A November field trip was set up for Sunday November 14th– meeting at the State Forest Rappelling Area parking lot 24798 Big Pine Rd, Logan, OH 43138 and hiking to 21 Horse Cave (Aka Chapel Cave). Then, depending on how everyone is doing we will head to Airplane Rock, or possibly head across the street to the rappelling area and waterfall. Please let Sue know if you are planning on doing this hike so we know who we are waiting on.
Eric would like to do German Village for a December field trip and we will get details out about that as soon as we have them.
Scavenger Hunt 4th Quarter – because we are back in Olivedale we decided to go back to using the 4×6 prints and at meeting judging. This Quarters pictures will be due at our January 6th meeting. (If you would like to participate but can’t be at the meeting you can arrange for someone else to bring in your prints). Pictures need to be 4×6 size so winners can be displayed in our frames at Olivedale.
Categories are: Fall Colors, Christmas Time, Low Key, High Key, Walls, City Lights, Open this Quarter. All pictures need to have been taken in October, November or December of 2021. Put your name and category on the back of the print.
The club has 2 shows, one at Olivedale, which we just had in September, and a Show at Alley Park south of Lancaster. The dates for Alley Park have been set – we will hang the show on March 17th, Judging will be held March 18th, and the show will run Saturday and Sunday March 19th and 20th. Mark your calendars. Misty and Shelly are taking the lead on this one, but we could really use volunteers, especially for advertising ideas, from anyone in the club. Getting the public to attend these shows is always an issue, More information will follow.
Also, please keep in mind that we are signed up for the Summer Reading Program show at the Fairfield County Library in June. The theme for this show is Oceans of Possibilities, so get your sand buckets out and get creative. Lets tell some photographic stories. This is a fun show that quite a few people see because of the programs the library has on the 3rd floor during that time.
Jim mentioned that the 20-21st at the Ohio State Fair Grounds Christmas Fair will be going on, and he is a vendor there. There is always a lot to see, and you can also get started on your Christmas gift list. You can get more information here: https://ohioexpocenter.com/event/christmas-fair-2/
Eric did a nice program on High Key and Low Key Photography, and we had several set up for people to practice with afterwards. I did want to mention, as I had told a few people while we were shooting, that you don’t need to have a fancy light for shooting these pictures indoors. A white screen on a computer display or laptop, or light coming in a window can be used for a High-Key background, and a simple flashlight can give you the moody lighting needed for a Low-Key shot. Use what you have and be creative.
