April 8th MPPC Zoom Meeting

Treasurers report: Larry has been in the hospital. Sending good vibes for his speedy recovery.

Nancy and John had a talk with Mike from Parks and Rec and came to an agreement.We will have Membership open to the public – 2 free meetings then pay dues.We will have shows open to the public and provide educational classes at those show free of charge to the public.Parks and Rec will provide space for shows and meetings at Olivedale, Alley Park, and the wood workers shop.Club will provide people to help move partitions for our shows.We will design ID badges for members that have Parks and Rec logo on them.We will provide a liaison to parks – currently Nancy Lambert.We will keep dues and any pictures people want to provide to parks will be done by the individual. Club will not be involved in collecting and delivering images to parks and Rec and members are not required to submit images for publication. They are encouraged to submit pictures individually directly to Parks.

That being said, we have arranged the Olivedale show for September 9th -set up after 3pm. Judging will be September 10th and the show will be open to the public on Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th.Requirements for mask wearing and sanitation at the show will be determined as we get closer.
We discussed possibly using the categories we had set for the Spring show that we had to cancel. I looked that up the minutes. Those categories were: Parks and Rec, Plants, Animals, Landscapes, Portraits, and Black and White. Do we want to stick with those?

We are also looking into doing a Spring/Early Summer workshop. The date was tentatively set for June 5th. Nancy will see if we can get Olivedale for that Saturday. More information to come.

Scavenger hunt. People were asked to vote again for green because there was a seven way tie for second. These are the final results:

We are still on the Library calendar for the summer reading program show in June. The library is still currently using the 3rd floor to quarantine books. They will let me know as soon as they know if we will be doing that show. Theme is “Tales and Tails
”Ohio state fair will not be having an art/photography competition – they are focusing on outdoor animal judging and 4H events.The Fairfield County Fair is expecting a full fair at this point and we are signed up and paid for our display in October.
The Air Show in Dayton is planning a July 10th and 11th show. People will purchase a space to park. For more information: https://daytonairshow.com/2021-2/tickets-2021/

Our May meeting will be May 6th at the shelter house by the playground at Rising Park at 7pm. We will also try to set up Zoom so anyone not ready to be in group settings should be able to join the meeting remotely.
Katie Whitt will be doing a presentation on Promotion and Websites.

Kamal finished the evening with a presentation on his trip to UP Michigan and gave tips for winter photography. Lots of good ideas for places to go and how to adjust your settings for winter shoots, and some spectacular pictures. Thanks Kamal.
